My Domestic Drug of Choice

Oh, come on! You know you have an addiction to at least one household responsibility!

Here are a few definitions for drug:

  • Alters normal bodily function (stress to relaxation)
  • Modifies a chemical process in the body for a specific purpose (stress hormones are decreased)
  • A substance, often addictive, which affects the central nervous system (a sigh of relief)
  • Alters mood, perception or consciousness (ahhhh, peaceful)

Examples of domestic drugs:

  • Vacuuming
  • Swiffering
  • Dishes
  • Laundry
  • Organizing
  • Cleaning out hobbit holes

My domestic drug of choice is vacuuming.  It’s one of the most highly addictive, mood altering, muscle relaxing drugs on the market.  My brand of drug is Rainbow.

My Rainbow makes my horns go down, steam ceases to blow from my ears and the hint of a smile creeps upon my face.

Amazing, just writing about vacuuming induces a deep breath. You should try some Rainbow.  I hear Dyson, Hoover and Dirt Devil are good too.

What is the household duty that brings you joy?

You are too funny! Although house cleaning in general, calms my nerves. Why is that? Don’t answer that question.

De-cluttering makes me feel better, at least the living areas. I feel accomplished when the laundry is not piled up too and that cheers me, but the clutter can unnerve me and make me grumpy.

Dusting. Organizing without interruption is very calming. decorating. (that counts b/c I clean when I decorate) or is it that I decorate when I clean? Cooking.
I wait until Autumn comes and then my floor gets vacuumed :) Oh, and I like making my bed or rather I like it when it’s made. Mirrors are fun too…and windows.
