When I work out…when…I sometimes watch Glenn Beck.  Last Friday his show was on the indoctrination of kids in American public schools.  Of course no one thinks this happens in their town. Of course not.

Below I’ve posted the March 5, 2010, episode in it’s 4 parts.

Please don’t bother leaving comments about how imperfect Glenn Beck is, I’m already aware of it ;)

Indoctrination= the process of inculcating ideas, attitudes, cognitive strategies or a professional methodology. It is often distinguished from education by the fact that the indoctrinated person is expected not to question or critically examine the doctrine they have learned.

Snow day!

February 24, 2010

I love living in Texas!!  If you don’t live here, you should. If you do live in Texas but not in Kerrville, you should move here.  If you haven’t lived in the city your whole life you probably won’t appreciate the beauty of Kerrville like I do.
Sunday it was near 70 degrees and sunny. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.

Why teach Theology to your children?

February 12, 2010

Kind of a no-brainer to me but it wasn’t always that way.  Why teach Theology? After all isn’t that just for the seminary students? NO!
Let’s look at it from the alternative: not teaching Theology. Where does that leave your children? Stumbling, bumbling, blabbering that’s where! I can freely talk this way because I was a [...]

But I love to write!!

February 1, 2010

Which is what I scream in my head when my daughter tells me she hates to write.  What??!!  Perhaps my love for penmanship is a tad obsessive.  Whatever.
But come on, hate?  That is a strong word afterall.
Where do I go from here? I don’t want her to be forever scarred when it comes to handwriting.
I [...]

Homeschooling Perks

January 24, 2010

1) Eating every meal with your children.
2) Offensive parenting as opposed to defensive parenting. Basically, not having to reteach your children what is truth everyday when they return home from prison school with stories that make you shudder.
3) Traveling during the week. Even better is during the week when public school is in session.
4) Sleeping [...]

“The Triumphant Trio” Super Heroes

January 17, 2010

Who’d have thought that a regular guy and an above average girl could produce offspring with such super powers?
Can you tell who my detail oriented child is? I’ll give you a hint: it’s the one that went and dug through all the toy boxes for matching paraphernalia.
My little Spidey.  It’s amazing he was [...]

Cultivating Questions

December 29, 2009

As a parent you pray that your children will always feel comfortable asking you questions.  Many parents feel this means they have to be their kids’ best friend.  This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The way to ensure your children ask you questions of any nature is to “fertilize” their minds with the nutrients needed [...]

Who Messed Up “A Holy Night”??

December 21, 2009

I’ll admit I’m not the greatest discerner.  My husband, however,  is blessed with discernment, apparently God gave him enough for both him and me.
Sometimes I find myself rockin’ to a “secular” Christian song (intended contradiction) and Michael will dryly ask if I’ve listened to the words.  Not really. I’m wrapped up in the “feel” of [...]

Memorization Ideas

December 13, 2009

I have found that, in the homeschool setting, memorization is the most effective tool I have for teaching my children discipline.  Memorization is never effortless.  Even for someone who is highly gifted in that skill.
I am good at memorizing but I have to put in work before I am able to recite it.  Now to [...]
